Garnet pendant in sterling silver

Sometimes gemstones can help each other to show off their best features. In this garnet pendant, the main stone is a lovely deep red almandine garnet set in sterling silver. An accent of two smaller garnets set below really bring out the best of this beautiful dark red colour.

Garnet includes a large group of related minerals, and can be formed in a large range of colours. The deep red seen in this piece is the most well recognised, but garnet can also be purple, orange or green. It is the birthstone for January. Find out more about garnet here.

The cut (faceted) main gemstone measures 7mm diameter, and the accent stones approximately 2mm each. The complete setting is 21mm long, 8mm wide and 5mm deep. The chain is a striking but robust diamond cut belcher chain, measuring 16 inches (40 cm) long with a carabiner catch, and the whole piece weighs approximately 6.5g. This particular piece is unique, but I have also used a similar design with different gemstones.
